Last Blog Post

1. I learned what I wanted learn about the topic of parental consent with abortions. I learned that most states require parental consent, and most states allow abortions for medical reasons without parental consent.
2. The benefits of breaking down the topic into phases, because it help to not feel so over whelmed and separating the articles and the information.
3. I think I will approach my topic differently, because I found out how plan parenthood feels about parental consent. I also found out that most states allow non-parental consent abortion only by medical.
4. This assignment made me more confident to discuss topics, because I learned how to look how reliable sources and how to process information better. I also learned how to even out logos, pathos, and ethos. I learn to use enough emotion, logic, and authority.
5. I have learned to rely on the CRAAP test to view how reliable the sources and view how the author of the articles are reliable. I also learned to look at what the sponsors of the article and the website. I learned that I need to look at the martial in the article to see if it has to do with the topic that I am writing or talking about.

'Interstate Abortions' for Minors Targeted in Bill: Baptist Press http://www.bpnews.net/BPnews.asp?ID=39755

1. This article was written on February 22, 2013. That is today's date; which means that it is very current. This article talks about how the government needs to protect the rights of the parents and daughters when it comes to abortions. It is relent to my topic about parental consent because it says how that right needs to be protected. When I Googled Baptist Press website about us, it said that they were founded in 1946 and is sponsored by the Southern Baptist Convention. The Southern Baptist Convention is a very reliable organization. The article also seems to be accurate with the information written. And the purpose is the same as mine, to convince people that parents need to be involved with their daughters abortions.

2. This article will work for my paper because there is a Biblical worldview behind it. The article also very current and up to date.

3. The article 'Interstate Abortions' for Minors Targeted in Bill is about how things are happening without the parents of the young girls knowing, such as the girls going into a different state just to avoid the law of their own state. The article also states that the father of the unborn babies are normally older than 18 years old and they take the girls, who are minors, to the different states to avoid the girls parents.

4. This article Raises the question, " how do the parents not know their daughters are pregnant?" Do the girls parents not notice that their daughter is pregnant? I would like to know how much the parents are involved in their daughters lives. Most good parents would know there is something different about their daughters.
Another question the article raises is "how do the parents not know that their daughters had an abortion?" It is proven that most girls who get an abortion, they are normally emotionally distressed. Most parents would notice that their daughter is not acting the same and being different. Are parents now a days not paying attention to their kids. Probably not because parents are becoming younger, there is not big age gap between parents and their kids anymore.

Laws Restricting Teenagers' Access to Abortion. American Civil Liberties Union. http://www.aclu.org/reproductive-freedom/laws-restricting-teenagers-access-abortion

1. This article is not really current because it was written in 2001 and it is 2013. That is not very current. This article is relevant because it talks about teens getting their parents involved voluntarily. The authority of the web site seems to be reliable. The web site is not a government but they reliable; they like to write about the different rights of Americans and controversial topics. This information from this article seems to be accurate. It has data and facts to justify their argument. This article does serve its purpose.

2. This article will help with my paper because it does not focus on one group of girls; it includes the girls who involve their parents in their abortions. This article also gives facts and statics I can use in my paper.

3. The article Laws Restricting Teenagers' Access to Abortion talks about girls in the United States younger than 18 years old needing parental consent to have an abortion. This article also states all the different ways girls can have abortions with out their parents consent.

4. The article raises the question "do the girls really not know the danger they are putting them and their unborn child's in?" Most the time the girls probably view the child as a blob of tissue that is not alive until the tired trimester. That is probably what the girls are taught because most people believe that a fetus is not alive at conception.
The article also raises the question "why do the medical providers not want to allow parental consent?" The abortion clinics might not be parent approved with the clinics cleanliness. The clinics also might be hiding something that young scared girls might not understand but parents would.

GUTTMACHER INSTITUTE

State Polices in Brief: Parental Involvement in Minors’ Abortions http://www.guttmacher.org/statecenter/spibs/spib_PIMA.pdf

2.This article was updated on February 1, 2013. That is only nine days from today's date, February 10, 2013. When i Googled the Guttmacher Institute, a web site came up and stated that the help "Advancing sexual and reproductive health worldwide through research, policy analysis and public education" (Guttmacher Institute). This site seems to be reliable, because they main work with all kinds of sexual and reproductive research. This article is relevant with my topic, because it it brakes down and talks about the views of the different states in America on parental consent abortions. This article also seems to have very good accuracy and maintenance the purpose of informing people of the different states views on parental consent abortions.

3. This article will be helpful with my paper because it brakes down each states view of parental consent for young girls to have an abortion preformed. The article also gives background information on what the general rule is for young girls having abortions and needing parental consent. The article is also presented to be neutral, neither pro-choice or pro-life, which helps me form my own argument.

4. The article shocked me when it said that 37 out of the 50 states agree that the girls can easily get a judicial bypass. I did not find anything confusing about the article  but why the states would allow an option for the girls to not involved their parents in their abortion. It is also surprising that only 15 states out of 50 allow for a medical abortion by abuse, assault, incest or neglect. For a lot of people being pro-choice that is not a great percentage to prove it.
The information presented in this article raises the question where do the states without a majority vote stand? There could have been a close vote and the other side could have one. Another question is did everyone 18 years and older vote for the laws? Who came up with these agreements? These are good questions to farther look up.

How to Respond to a Source

I feel like Maurice Issermen wants to state her true view of plagiarism, which is that it is both bad and good. I find this very confusing, because something cannot be good and bad at the sometime. Issermen seems to want her audience to know that it is a bad thing to plagiarism, but it can be a good thing when  used for academics. I find her response very shocking because most people working with higher education disagrees with plagiarism.
A question that might come form this quote is did Issermen ever Plagiarize? She seems to believe that there is no good vs. bad. That brings up the question what is her stance on good vs. evil.

Parental Consent

*topic change Parental Consent with abortion*

Parental Consent and Notification Laws Plan Parenthood. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/abortion/parental-consent-notification-laws-25268.htm

1.This article was lasted updated, August 3, 2009. That is kinda relevant for this topic. This article is from the website Plan Parenthood, which is well known among pro-choice's. This article also is relevant with my topic about the parental consent for abortions. The article also talks about parent consent in the different states. This article will be helpful for my paper because it talks about the different states and their view of Parental consent for abortion. It also states what the age where the girls become adults.

2.The article Parental Consent and Notification Laws informs young girls under the age of 18, that depending in which state they life in they may need parental consent to have an abortion. The article also states three legal processes that the girls can go through without their parents. The girls can either go to a court and the girls the authority to have a non-parental consent abortion, they can also have someone who is a legal guardian to sign off for the abortion, or if the girls are emancipated and can give the proper documentation they can do what they want.
